Spatial Distribution of Cladocera in a Stratified Palaearctic Lake
نویسندگان
چکیده
The spatial distribution of 39 species Chydoridae, representing seven families, was examined in a stratified Palaearctic lake Poland (Lake Piaseczno). Thirty-one the living that were found to exist exclusively littoral zone. No pelagic zone; this zone, eight identified, but all these also quite abundant Almost Chydoridae and Macrothricidae only littoral, whereas Daphnidae Sididae families comprised either restricted or occurring both zones. Two Bosminidae species, turn, displayed consistent biotic zones, differed their habitat preferences. On other hand, Polyphemidae Leptodoridae exhibited littoral-pelagic distributions, respectively. Few occurred one only. Most despite showing clear preferences for distinct (or habitats), present at lower densities throughout whole lake, case limnetic species. Archetype analysis showed cladocerans distributed along entire gradient macrophyte characteristics depth. Among which strongest attachment habitats overgrown by macrophytes, few above 50% similarity archetype among submerged macrophytes with highest plant per volume infested. Furthermore, many including family, P. pediculus S. mucronata, avoided staying particularly complicated architecture. Regarding relation depth, could be grouped into settling relatively shallow parts mainly 3–6 m deep lake. negligible between macrophyte-free deepest study provides quantitative support display threshold time Although group aquatic invertebrates is widely suspected being ecologically flexible tolerant environmental gradients, individual high segregation according depth

GDGT distribution in a stratified lake and implications for the application of TEX86 in paleoenvironmental reconstructions
We investigated the relationship between distributions of GDGTs, GDGT-based proxies and environmental factors in a stratified lake in northwestern Norway. More than 90% of isoGDGTs were produced at the bottom of the oxycline, indicating a predominance of ammonia-oxidizing Group I.1a of Thaumarchaeota, supported by high crenarchaeol/caldarchaeol ratios. Dissolved oxygen content, rather than temp...
متن کاملVertical distribution of microbial communities in a perennially stratified Arctic lake with saline, anoxic bottom waters
Meromictic lakes are useful biogeochemical models because of their stratified chemical gradients and separation of redox reactions down the water column. Perennially ice-covered meromictic lakes are particularly stable, with long term constancy in their density profiles. Here we sampled Lake A, a deep meromictic lake at latitude 83°N in High Arctic Canada. Sampling was before (May) and after (A...
متن کاملSpatial distribution of littoral fish species in a large European lake, Lake Constance
The spatial distribution and patterns of habitat use of littoral fish species in Lake Constance were studied using electric fishing and trammel net sampling to assess fish abundance and biomass in three depth strata at six different sampling sites within the littoral zone. Distribution differences among depth strata were found to be often more pronounced than among different sampling sites. Juv...
متن کاملDistribution and diversity of archaea corresponding to the limnological cycle of a hypersaline stratified lake (Solar lake, Sinai, Egypt).
The vertical and seasonal distribution and diversity of archaeal sequences was investigated in a hypersaline, stratified, monomictic lake, Solar Lake, Sinai, Egypt, during the limnological development of stratification and mixing. Archaeal sequences were studied via phylogenetic analysis of 16S rDNA sequences as well as denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis analysis. The 165 clones studied we...
متن کاملNew findings of Eurycercus Baird, 1843 (Cladocera: Anomopoda) in the Eastern Palaearctic.
Information on the cladocerans of Eastern Palaerctic is limited, and remote islands of Arctic and Subarctic in this region are among inadequately studied territories, i.e. due to a very limited access to them. "Nearctic" Eurycercus longirostris is reported here for the first time from Bering Island and Wrangel Island. Also E. macracanthus is found to be common in Kamchatka Peninsula, while prev...
